Running is like no other sport. It was the first ever sport; there is no “stopping the clock”; there are no out lines; there are no field goals, only your goals; there are no refs to stop you in the middle of your moment; there are no penalties; there’s no piggy-backing on your team; there is more pain and physical exertion, making you the toughest; there is more mental breakdown, making you able to withstand the next; there are no “cancellations due to weather”; there are no substitutes; there are no “Coaches favorites,” only time will determine the Varsity spots; you don’t have “good days,” everyday is a day worth its effort; there are no protection pads; there are no face masks; there are no limits; It’s not you versus the other team, it’s you versus yourself; the clock is your rival; anybody can kick a ball, throw one, run into someone, but nobody can push through pain the same way that we do on a daily basis. We take our anger out on ourselves, nobody can interfere or complain.
